Outer Shells

Wildland

Tecasafe® Plus

The scientists at TenCate Protective Fabrics USA developed an exceptional blend of fibers that provide Active Moisture Management. This moves moisture away from the wearer while generating an evaporative cooling effect in warmer environments, and regulates temperature in cooler climates.

Tecasafe PLUS with Coolderm Technology is a hypoallergenic textile that’s extremely comfortable and easy to wear. The fabric arrives soft with ergonomic performance so there’s no break-in period, easy donning and doffing, and no chaffing or irritation during extended wear. Inherently flame-resistant so the protection comes “built in” and will never wash or wear out, Tecasafe PLUS with Coolderm Technology is engineered as a more durable and comfortable option to chemically treated wildland fabrics.

Nomex®

Tried and true, Nomex® has been the standard in FR fabrics for half a century. Garments made from Nomex are inherently flame-resistant and won’t melt, drip, or support combustion in the air. The thermal protection offered by Nomex® is permanent, and cannot be washed out or worn away.

A key factor in the thermal protection Nomex® provides is that it carbonizes and thickens when exposed to intense heat. This increases the protective barrier between the heat source and the skin, minimizing burn injuries. This tough protective barrier stays supple and flexible until it cools, which gives you valuable extra seconds of protection when you need it.

Firebreak™ 469

Firebreak Style 469 is engineered for the optimum combination of thermal protection and durability while still providing unparalleled comfort. This rugged fabric stands up to the toughest terrain, long hours and hard labor of real-world wildland firefighting.

Advance™

Tencate’s Advance fabric combines the trusted fire protection of Nomex® with the legendary strength of Kevlar. While it may not be bullet proof, Advance is about as close as you will get to brush proof. Garments made with Advance are ideal for the roughest of terrain, and situations where your gear absolutely needs to last.

Pioneer™

CrewBoss is taking the most innovative fabric in structural fire fighting onto the wildland fireline. Originally developed as an outer shell for turnouts, Tencate Pioneer is now the toughest material available for brush pants. Pioneer’s strength comes from Tencate’s patent pending Enforce Technology. This innovative process utilizes Kevlar fibers in a double-helix formation to create a fabric that is virtually impossible to rip, while still being lightweight and comfortable to wear.

Sigma 4 Star™

Using a revolutionary, proprietary fiber blend, Sigma 4 Star fabric offers high levels of thermal protection, while still being exceptionally breathable.

Firebreak™ 362

This light weight fabric is known for it’s superior breathability characteristics, so it is only natural that you would find it where most of your body heat is generated. This style 362 is engineered for the optimum combination of thermal protection and durability while still providing unparalleled comfort. This rugged fabric stand up to the toughest terrain, long hours and hard labor of real-world wildland firefighting.

Station Wear

Nomex®

When the flames roar and temperatures soar, firefighters need a station wear fabric that's more than just clothing – it's a critical line of defense. That's where Nomex® by DuPont™ comes in.

Tecasafe® Plus

Tecasafe PLUS with Coolderm Technology offers a hypoallergenic solution that's both comfortable and easy to wear. This innovative fabric is inherently flame-resistant, providing built-in protection that won't wash out or degrade over time. Unlike chemically treated wildland fabrics, Tecasafe PLUS is soft and ergonomic from the start, eliminating break-in periods and ensuring easy donning and doffing. Additionally, Coolderm Technology keeps you comfortable throughout extended wear by preventing chafing and irritation. This combination of inherent flame resistance, long-lasting protection, and exceptional comfort makes Tecasafe PLUS a superior choice for those seeking reliable performance without compromise.

Firebreak™ 469

We understand the importance of comfort during long shifts indoors. While Firebreak™ 469 prioritizes durability, we offer a variety of station wear options within this fabric to ensure you find the right balance between comfort and protection.

Technical Rescue

Nomex®

The unique chemistry of Nomex® fibers delivers an inherent barrier against heat and flames. Unlike some materials, Nomex® won't melt or drip, eliminating the risk of molten material sticking to skin during close calls. It also boasts a remarkably high ignition point, giving firefighters valuable seconds in dynamic situations. Even if ignited, Nomex® self-extinguishes and burns slowly, forming a protective char that slows the spread of flames. In the demanding world of technical rescue, Nomex® offers the exceptional fire resistance and performance you can count on, mission after critical mission.

Defender® M

Battle proven in Iraq and Afghanistan; this military-grade fabric brings an extensive list of benefits to the CrewBoss TREX Ensemble. Defender M® offers strength, exceptional moisture management, and dependable flame protection.

Sigma® 4 Star

Using a revolutionary, proprietary fiber blend, Sigma® 4 Star fabric offers high levels of thermal protection, while still being exceptionally breathable.

Agility® Tactical

Agility® is a light-weight fabric that provides excellent strength during thermal exposure. The fabric is used as an outer shell that offers ease of movement and minimal heat stress.

Structural

Agility®

Made with ENFORCE® technology and weighing only 6.6 ounces per square yard, Agility® offers a blend of strength and protection to weight ratio. The use of a twill weave in the fabric design delivers greater comfort and ease of movement so firefighters can act faster and stay on the job longer. Offering lighter loads, less stress and excellent durability, Agility™ is the outer shell firefighters need on the job.

PBI® XT

PBI® fiber is well known among firefighters… and for good reason. It’s known for providing great protection and comfort. By combining PBI® fiber with DuPont® Kevlar® fiber and filament, TenCate Protective Fabrics engineered a topof-the-line outer shell fabric. PBI® XT is the most popular PBI® outer shell on the market. PBI® XT serves as the choice of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). Tough enough to face any challenge, this legendary material boasts a traditional rip-stop appearance that firefighters recognize instantly.

Flex7® Powered by PBI®

Powered by PBI® fibers, and built with ENFORCE™ Technology, Flex7® delivers the thermal stability and abrasion resistance modern firefighters need to stay safe and confident on the job — all constructed in a revolutionary flex twill weave that delivers an incredible feel, right out of the bag.

Like a trusted turnout jacket you’ve had for years — Flex7® boasts a perfectly broken in feel on the very first wear — flexible, smooth, and supremely comfortable, yet brand new and packed with next-generation fire protection technology.

Pioneer™

Pioneer™ was the first outer shell from TenCate Protective Fabrics that featured ENFORCE™ Technology. A more economical option, Pioneer™ is an outer shell that delivers enhanced strength in a lightweight outer shell. A highly engineered, innovative twill weave ensures a good range and ease of motion that firefighters need on the job. Pioneer™ is designed to be 10 percent lighter than comparable outer shells while still delivering the strength and durability that firefighters have come to expect from TenCate.

Armor AP™

Armor AP™ fills the needs of firefighters who prefer improved mobility, improved durability, and improved protection at an economical price. DuPont Kevlar filament allows Armor AP to resist tearing for a longer period of time.
